MOLINE, Illinois - The River Bend FoodBank is making it easier for people in need of a meal.
They opened their food pantry in southpark mall in moline today. They served over 140 guests.
It's part of an effort to give out the extra food they recieved from a surplus. A River Bend FoodBank member says it's getting them closer to decreasing the food gap in the Quad Cities.
"It really helps us in our effort to close the meal gap in the 23 counties we serve. We know that there is 21 million meals that are being missed, last year we provided about 14 million of those so this is really going to help us continue to work towards closing that meal gap in the counties that we serve," says Nancy Renkes.
The pantry will be opened Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday and Saturday mornings until July. For more information, visit their website here.
