Rock Island County state’s attorney appointed judge of 14th circuit

Rock Island County State’s Attorney John McGehee has been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court as a resident circuit judge in the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit effective May 1, 2019.

This comes after the retirement of Hon. Lori Lefstein on January 30th of this year.

“I would like to thank Justice Kilbride and the entire Illinois Supreme Court for this incredible honor,” McGehee said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the public as the next resident judge for Rock Island County.”

His time as a resident judge will come to an end on December 6th, 2020, when the position is filled in a general election.

McGehee has been the Rock Island County State’s Attorney since 2012. 

The 14th Judicial Circuit covers Henry, Rock Island, Mercer, and Whiteside Counties.
