Rock Island librarians want to help you take care of your tax papers

News

With tax day just behind us, you may have some financial paperwork to dispose of.

The Rock Island Library has a solution: Community Shred Day.

The event offers free secure shredding at the Rock Island Downtown Library on Thursday, May 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Librarians will help people cut through paper clutter by securely and confidentially disposing of personal financial documents.

Librarians will be working with SHRED-IT, a nationally certified company for mobile document destruction.

The even is made possible by sponsorship from Gas & Electric Credit Union.

You can drive up (or walk-up) and drop off during the event in Downtown Library Parking Lot. Staff will help you unload your items.

The event is free and open to anyone– even if you don’t live in Rock Island.
