School bus freed from utility lines


UPDATE: MidAmerican Energy cut the lines upon arrival after determining that they were not live power lines but utility lines.

Everyone aboard the bus is safe and there were no injuries. 

Local 4 News was the only crew at the scene.


Multiple reports of power lines are down as strong storms moved into the area on Tuesday.

At one point more than 7,400 customers were without power in the Illinois Quad Cities.

A school bus from United Township was stuck at the intersection of 21st Avenue and 11th Street with power lines touching it. The bus is full of students and a driver, but officials are taking no chances that the wire is live and are waiting for MidAmerican Energy to arrive.
