The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will be closing Smith's Island Recreation Area at Lock and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, for environmental restoration work.
The closure begins March 12 and is expected to last for approximately two weeks.
During the closure, workers will be clearing invasive species and applying herbicide in vegetated areas.
When active restoration work is taking place, no access will be granted to the island.
