We’re gearing up for some snow around the Quad Cities.
It’s expected to hit later tonight, and crews tell us they’re ready for it.
The Marquette facility is one of three barns in Davenport full of salt – 13,000 tons in all – that is ready to go in case of snow.
The first snow that comes down may not last long because this time of year the ground is not cold enough.
That’s why Davenport Public Works tells us, they’re not overly concerned, but they are prepared for the inch or so to come.
They have two teams for snow patrol of 33 guys on each – one team is only on call tonight.
Rock Island was loading trucks this afternoon, and tell us, they will also be on standby tonight.
Moline Public Works though told us, they are not getting anything ready for the snow overnight. They are still in “leaf mode.”
The cold will still be around in the morning, so take care in the roads – which may be slick.
