It still feels like winter, but severe storm season is on its way and the National Weather Service wants your help keeping people safe.
Tonight volunteers learned how to become storm spotters at the Moline Public Library. Meteorologists from the NWS shared what to look for and how to report it.
Meteorologist Alex Gibbs said spotters see things technology can’t.
“Without spotters, we’re based off of radar and the radar doesn’t tell us what’s on on the ground,” Gibbs said. “So our storm spotters are our ground truth of what’s actually going on.”
There’s anoter storm spotter training class scheduled for March 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Walcott American Legion at 121 Bryant St.
