Quad Cities kids were transported to the farm today.
Hundreds of students went on a virtual field trip to hog, corn and soybean farms this afternoon. The event was held at Deere and Company world headquarters in Moline by the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance.
Organizers said it’s a way for the next generation to understand how their food makes it the table.
“We’re trying to connect with consumers who have questions about how their food is grown and raised,” Nancy Kavazanjian, chairwoman of the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance. “If we could, we’d take everyone in America to a farm and we know we can’t do that, so we’re bring the farm to the people.”
Organizers hope today’s trip will help students better understand the importance of agriculture.
