All eastbound John Deere Road traffic will switch over to the newly completed lanes and the ramp from I-74 will be reopened as part of changes to the project next week in preparation for winter.
Here is the full news release detailing the changes:
On the John Deere Road Project, work is wrapping up for the construction season. On Wednesday November 15th, 41st Street will be opened northbound, this will allow for two northbound through lanes and one dedicated left turn lane to westbound John Deere Road. This traffic change will take place before 5 PM on Wednesday.
Eastbound John Deere Road is scheduled to switch over to the newly completed lanes on the night of November 16th. This traffic switch will take place at approximately 9 PM on the night of November 16th, at this time eastbound traffic on John Deere Road will be restricted to one lane at the west crossover (this restriction will only last for approximately 1 hour). The sideroads of 41st Street, 53rd Street, 60th Street, and 70th Street will also be stopped at approximately 9 PM as Eastbound traffic is taken onto the newly constructed John Deere Road. Please be aware of the new traffic signals that will be utilized for the new eastbound lanes.
After eastbound John Deere Road is switched, the ramp detour from I-74 to Eastbound John Deere Road will be taken down. The detour will be removed by 11:59 PM November 16th. Also, 38th Street will be opened after 9 PM allowing access to eastbound John Deere Road from 38th Street.
Starting on Friday November 17th, the barrier wall that was dividing eastbound and west traffic on John Deere Road will be removed from the roadway. This process will take approximately 4 to 5 business days. When the barrier wall is removed, it will add additional left turn lanes at the intersections of John Deere Road and 41st Street and John Deere Road and 60th Street. The intersection of 41st Street and John Deere Road will have two through lanes and two dedicated left turn lanes in all directions, and the intersection of John Deere Road and 60th Street will feature two dedicated left turn lanes for northbound 60th Street and westbound John Deere Road. Finally, an additional lane will be opened on westbound John Deere Road leading up to 70th Street.
