Celebrating America’s truckers at the World’s Largest Truckstop.
The 39th annual Truckers Jamboree is underway in Walcott, Iowa.
90 super trucks and more than 150 antique trucks are parked here for three days of festivities and fun.
More than 44,000 people are expected to attend over the weekend.
Every day, there’s a pork chop cook-out, super truck beauty contest, and trucker olympics.
For longtime truckers, this event is pretty special.
“It’s all about the drivers, and that’s what I appreciate about coming here,” says trucker Leon Hochstetler. “Plus, I have a group of friends that follows me here, and we just have a good time together. It’s a lot of fun.”
“It’s fun to show trucks here, competition is good, but just the reunion with people and meeting new people – that’s the most important thing is friendship,” says trucker Daryl Kauffman.
Hochstetler also won first place at the tire roll event. They both won the water cup relay.
The Kentucky Headhunters perform tonight at 7, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m.
The Trucker Jamboree continues for a final day on Saturday.
Admission and the concerts are free.
