Two people rescued after being trapped in Davenport apartment fire


Two people were rescued Sunday night after a structure fire at their apartment complex in Davenport.It happened at about 6:30 at the Breckenridge apartments on North Division street.Local 4 news was first on the scenealong with six fire trucks.

The two rescued were trapped on the third floor.There were minor injuries. Some animals are unaccounted for tonight.
One resident tells local 4 news, it was so bad he had to crawl out due to the smoke. “Me and my girlfried tried to leave and when i opened up the store there was just a cloud of smoke i mean it was real thick and dark and black. So i ran back in and got her and we proceeded out the door and the smoke was so thick we had to get down pretty much crawl out,” says Ivory Justice, resident at Breckenridge.

North division street is shut down at this hour and traffic being diverted. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The red cross is helping residents figure out a place to stay for the night.
