Two defendants in a Rock Island murder case were sentenced today for their part in the death of a 15-year-old in 2016.

Kire Carr was sentenced to 20 years for his part in the shooting death of Jescie Armstrong. Carr was 17 at the time of the shooting.

Trey Gustafson received the maximum sentence of 15 years for a charge of conspiracy to commit an armed robbery.

Gustafson, Carr and Chelsea Raker went to Armstrong’s house to buy $150 of marijuana.

McGehee says Gustafson set up the buy and left the room before a fight broke out. McGehee says both Carr and Raker had guns. It’s believed Rakers fired the shot that killed Armstrong.

Raker was sentenced in January to 40 years for her role in the murder.
