As of right now our Winter Storm Warning is the main weather headline for the Quad Cities with heavy snow and wind expected today.

But there’s a chance the NWS could upgrade that to a Blizzard Warning for the Quad Cities and parts of the surrounding area.

If that happens it will be the first time since Jan. 26, 2014!  That was more than 1700 days ago, we’ll see if e streak ends today!

A Blizzard Warning is issued when the following criteria are met:

Winds of 35 mph

Visibility of .25 mile or less

Lasting 3 or more hours

*There’s a very good chance this streak comes to an end today.  Meteorologists with the NWS are closely monitoring conditions, and if they issue a Blizzard Warning you’ll know about it right away at ourquadcities.com/weather .
